昨晚在CitySuper又拿了一本The List, 無意中發現下個月的意大利電影節, 不得不在此幫忙宣傳宣傳. 不要誤會, 我不是意大利商會的人, 也不是替藝術中心辦事, 只不過, 有好的東西怎能不通知電影發燒友們! 除了法國電影外, 我也十分喜愛意大利電影, 大學修讀電影時也修了一科電影系與意大利文系合辦的意大利電影, 那本厚厚的textbook還在書架上!

“Daniele Vicari moves confidently from documentaries to features with “Maximum Velocity (V-Max),” which represents a souped-up extension of the director’s 1999 exploration of Italy’s street racing and customized car scene, “Sex, Mufflers and Videogames.” Despite a certain predictability in the script, this well-paced, entertaining drama piloted by two likable characters investigates a relatively unchartered Roman subculture. While inevitable branding as a low-rent “The Fast and the Furious” may curb its offshore speed, theatrical outlook in Italy and some European territories appears solid.”(Variety)

Backed by strong marketing and a high-rotation airplay single and musicvideo from Ligabue, film opened well locally but may struggle to cross borders.”(Variety)

Bebo Braschi Lentini is a successful entrepreneur. He has a very strong character, which alienates him from everybody around him – everybody except his loyal secretary Veronica who, despite his behavior, adores him. Christian, a DJ is frustrated, penniless and in love with a beautiful pharmacist Caterina but unable to declare his love. He dreams of organizing huge pop concerts. One day, Andrea, Bebo and Christian meet coincidently at a beach -front restaurant. Each thinks that the other has a better life. “If I were you…” they say… and the three of them find themselves projected into the life of the person they had expressed admiration for. The transformation carries some advantages. At Andrea’s house, Bebo reorganizes completely the family’s crazy lifestyle. At the same time, Christian brings chaos to the extremely serious Braschi-Lentini household and uses all of Bebo’s money to put on a huge rock concert with the dumbstruck Gegio. As time goes on, we find that Bebo has reached a very respectable position in his company and is about to buy Braschi Lentini, which Christian has obviously run onto the ground. Il Posto dell’Anima (The Soul’s Place) by Riccardo Milani (2003)

Set in the small mountain town of Campolaro, the film follows Carair tire factory co-workers Salvatore (Michele Placido), Antonio (Silvio Orlando), and Mario (Claudio Santamaria). When the American-owned company threatens to shut down the factory, the union members organize a serious protest. While the boisterous men chain themselves to the factory doors and get arrested on television to show their solidarity, their long-suffering wives raise money by starting up a homemade pasta business. L’Uomo in Piu’ (One Man Up) by Paolo Sorrentino (2001)

“A small scale but absorbing twin character study powered by two compelling performances, “One Man Up” tracks the parallel lives of two men from Naples in the cynical, amoral ’80s as they are elevated to positions of public glory then coldly cast aside by society. While Paolo Sorrentino’s writing is more refined than his direction, this is an intelligent, thematically ambitious first featurefeature by Italian standards, and should play festivals and open doors for the Neapolitan newcomer. Produced by some of the same team that launched Mario Martone’s film career with “Death of a Neapolitan Mathematician,” the drama was the swan song project of American-born producer-distributor Kermit Smith, who died in April.”(Variety)
